Breakwater Expeditions, located in Sandpoint, Idaho, offers year-round, customizable trips and retreats for individuals, professionals, families and groups from all over the country interested in wilderness and health-based adventures. “Our mission is to support our client’s vision through nature-inspired adventure trips,” says Angie Roberts, program director and lead guide for Breakwater. “When someone brings us a theme or trip idea, we make it a reality.”
Breakwater Expeditions works with a variety of groups and their unique needs. “We have a trip coming up that is dedicated specifically to mothers who have had the difficult experience of sending their child away to be cared for by strangers,” explains Roberts. “We partnered with Mikki Proffitt of Women’s Heart Circles who specializes in Emotion Freedom Technique and works closely with mothers around the nation who have had this experience. Mikki’s vision to create ‘A Mother’s Heart, A Hero’s Journey’ retreat includes an outdoor experience, coupled with her healing work and a community of women with a similar story who are ready to heal, and we were able to create this trip with and for her.”
Upcoming expeditions include Nourish: A sea kayaking retreat for body, soul and belly, September 27 to 30 in the San Juan Islands, Washington; A Mother’s Heart, A Hero’s Journey: A sea kayaking retreat for mothers who made the difficult decision to send their child away to the care of others, past or present, September 30 to October 6 in the San Juan Islands, Washington; Somatic Nature Retreat: A canoe expedition for eco-therapists and somatically oriented therapists and healers, October 14 to 20 in Green River, Utah.
