Healing for Horses Sanctuary is offering two workshops specifically designed for tweens and older youth from June 17 to 20. This four-day equine facilitated learning program teaches basic emotional health constructs and strategies to recognize patterns of behavior in a safe environment.
“Our morning session from 9:30 a.m. to noon is For Tweens: Power Tools for Living and is designed for those ages 10 to 14,” says Gloria Lybecker, owner and lead instructor. “Our afternoon session runs from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is For Older Youth: Horses Helping Humans and is designed for those ages 15 to 18.”
According to Lybecker, a keystone of this program is full acceptance of each youth participant and where they are in their life journey, as well as the foundational belief that each person has their own best solutions within. “We explore the important skills of self-understanding and discovery as well as compassionate self-witness and knowing what does and does not promote well-being,” she says. “We also engage in connectedness and relationships, empathy, responsibility, anger management, self-control, conflict resolution, choices and consequences—all of which are vital as we grow up.”
Cost: $325 and includes handouts, healthy snacks and wellness water. Location: 1003 S. Wheatland St., Medical Lake, WA. Limited spaces available. No previous horse experience required. For more information, contact Gloria Lybecker at 509-876-1802 or visit HealingWithHorsesSanctuary.com.
